Crash Ridge is the Kaimai feature that dominates Tauranga's western horizon. This view is from the top of Mt Maunganui. We went by four wheel drive vehicle to the top of Thompson's Track and then tramped up to the saddle shown, where a DC3 crashed in 1963. Tragically, all 23 people on board lost their lives.
